Guides and Volunteers

Meet the Guides for 2025!

  • James Zervos

Professional Fishing Guide James Zervos is a retired Fire Lieutenant with 32 years of service in the Binghamton Fire Dept. A certified Emergency Medical Technician, and is licensed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, The National Park Service, and The Pennsylvania Fish Commission. My extreme passion for the great outdoors has brought me to the rivers and forest for over 45 years. I find being in the stream and the woods as being a part of a healthy lifestyle. Stress plays a big part in our everyday endeavors, and managing it is important to our health. Whether it is setting the hook on a 20 lb. Steelhead, chasing a big Tom Turkey through the woods, or just floating the river with a camera and peace of mind, your outing will be a rewarding, healthy experience. Your stress level will fade rapidly as we float the pristine Salmon and Delaware Rivers.

Wildlife is abundant. Bald Eagles, Wild Turkey, Deer, and the occasional Black Bear make their home within the forest that borders these majestic rivers. The essence of wildflowers and the sound of songbirds will take you far away from the hustle and bustle of the office. Please don't look at this as just a fishing or hunting outing, but as a healthier way of life!

  • Matt Ippoliti

Matt began guiding just out of college & made the transition from Boulder to Basalt in 2000 when he started working for the Taylor Creek Fly Shop.  Industry legend Tim Heng & his cast of senior guides created the type of learning environment where ability alone was not enough.  Stewardship, grace, & professionalism were requirements to ensure the impeccable reputation that the shop was built on.  These values are evident when fishing with Matt, as well as his desire to build a guide service the same way in the East. Having lived the guide life for over 18 years & operating out of his mobile fish camp in Colorado, PA, Ohio, & TN, he has no shortage of expertise or local knowledge.  In his spare time, Matt builds non-toxic steel anchors for drift boats & rafts, mountain bikes, & runs fishes for fun.

  • Jim "Coz" Costolnick

Jim Costolnick, "Coz" as he is known throughout the fly fishing industry, is a 35 year veteran guide and owner of Border Water Outfitters on the Upper Delaware River System. As host of ESPN's "In Search of Fly Water", Coz traveled the globe bringing the wonderful world of fly fishing into the living rooms of millions.

Coz spends spring & summer on his home waters of the Delaware, Fall at his steelhead camp guiding on the Lake Erie tributaries, & winter months on S. Andros at Da Bay Area Bonefish Lodge as their fishing, marketing and promotions manager. He is an avid hunter, outdoorsman, & a proud dad to his amazing daughter Jamison.

  • John Fletcher

After spending years in the woods of the northeast with the Boy Scouts of America and achieving the rank of eagle scout I began looking for a new way to enjoy what mother nature had to offer. I found fly fishing and immediately caught the bug. Teaching myself ,mostly, I began to explore all over PA and the surrounding states. In 2011 I found my way to East Branch Outfitters fell in love with the river and never looked back. I now consider the UDR my home fishery and dedicate my life to the pursuit of enjoying its treasures. With my years of experience woodworking I built my wood boat in 2015 so I could fully experience the river. In 2018 I began guiding for East Branch Outfitters.

  • Sam Decker

Over 20 years ago my husband & I went to the Gates of the Arctic in Alaska & I thought it was a good time to take up fly fishing. I had fished with my father as a child & always enjoyed the outdoors. I was hooked. I fished whenever I had a day off. It led me to the Delaware & the rest is history.

Today I am a licensed guide in NY & PA & a National Park Permit holder. I am a FFI certified Casting Instructor, 1 of 3 in NY State (one is Joan Wulff, she is a MCI). I am President of the Eastern Waters Council of Fly Fishers International. In 2012, I received “Fly Fisher of Distinction” from the Catskill Fly Fishing Museum at the Angler’s Club in NYC & in 2015 was top guide at the One Bug.

  • Rich Thomas

Meet the 2025 Volunteers!

  • Heide Mason

Heide started fishing with a home-made dropline in the Long Island Sound as a 2 y.o.! Her angling has evolved a bit since then, but her love of all things fishing has not. She has been mentoring and teaching new fly anglers since she first picked up a fly rod in the Adirondacks over 20 years ago. Heide delights in helping both new anglers get started and more experienced anglers to improve their techniques and broaden their horizons!

  • Dan Plummer

Dan grew up in Elmira, New York and was introduced to fishing, hunting and trapping at an early age by both his mom and dad; both were great outdoors enthusiasts, and true self taught naturalists. They put a very high value on all things wild and taught Dan and his brother John to appreciate all the outdoors had to offer. Dan moved to Southern California in 1979 where he worked for ABC Sports covering events like Monday Night Football, and the 1984 Summer Olympics, he then moved to N.Y.C. to work for Ralph Lauren and bought his cabin on the East Branch of the Delaware River.

He believes there is not a more beautiful place on earth, and is dedicated to making sure the rivers get the chance they deserve to live up to their full potential. Dan also serves on the board of The Summit Foundation, The Code Blue Foundation, Trout Unlimited and the Wild Salmon Center doing other conservation work.

  • Peter Moskovitz

Peter began fishing the Upper Delaware River in 1982 and has owned property on Fish Creek in Fishs Eddy since 2011.  Last year he moved from Washington, DC, where he practiced orthopaedic surgery for 45 years, until he retired in 2015.  He now lives in Hardwick, VT, in the Lamoille River watershed.  Peter has been a member of the Board of Directors of FUDR since 2015 and is presently its Vice Chair. Apart from fishing, he enjoys tinkering with his 1965 Mini Cooper, projecting on the 240 year old farm house he shares with his partner, Kathy, and the time he gets to share with his two children and 3 grandchildren.

  • Cal Inguanti

Cal is a member of the Trout Unlimited development team — building support for their nationwide conservation efforts from the Upper Delaware to the Southern Appalachians, the Rockies, and Bristol Bay. With a background in nonprofit organizations — including those in education, the arts, and now the environment — Cal's ultimate passion is helping other people. He's been fishing the Upper Delaware since joining the TU staff in 2023 and spends his free time chasing native brook trout across Massachusetts in the spring and stripers across the Maine coast in the summer. Cal lives in Boston with his wife, Katie, and their two cats, Tommy and Chuck.
