UDR Policy

The UDRCC crew each year attends at least one event that focuses on policy. It helps the crew learn about another important aspect of conservation.

In 2022 the crew went to a site on the Little Beaver Kill. The event was focused on the importance of state support for the Delaware River. The crew was able to plant trees with assemblywoman Aileen Gunther and many other partners.

In 2023 the crew attended “The Day on the Delaware”, it was an event that brought many organizations together and policy makers. The event was held at a newly improved access in Highland, NY. There were even kayakers using the new access to the river as the event was going on, which means that all the effort from several organizations to make this project happen was a success.

There were many speakers discussing how each organization plays a part in projects like creating/improving accesses that make it easier for kayakers, boaters and more to have safe access to the river and the importance of the Upper Delaware River. There was a NY congressman and an NY assemblywoman discussing the importance of protecting the river. There were also speakers from the National Park, Upper Delaware Council,  Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed and much more.

These events really let the crew get an understanding of a different area of conservation and potential career opportunities. They have the opportunity to meet and talk with the organization representatives too.
